Ulysses Jones

Movement-based Performance

Ulysses Jones is a Master Craftsman for the National Puppetry Conference at the Eugene O’Neill Theater Center and an adjunct professor at the University of Connecticut’s Puppet Arts program, teaching movement-based performance.

Jones pushes the boundaries of theater and sparks the imagination. His work encompasses everything from small, custom commercial jobs to life-size, life-like dinosaurs and includes beloved shows such as “Thomas and Friends Live.” Well known for his ability to make puppets come to life, he has performed on illustrious stages around the world such as the Kennedy Center and the 2014 Sochi Olympic Opening and Closing ceremonies. 

He has built puppets and props for “Avenue Q” and “Wicked,” as well as The Jim Henson Company, among many other Broadway productions. His performances have been seen on stages throughout the world, on television, and on screen. Ulysses lives in the woods of Connecticut with his wife and son and their steadily declining number of chickens.
